Since Valentine’s Day is so much about romantic love, it is the perfect day for making a romantic marriage proposal. If you’re ready to pop the question this year, here are five ideas for marriage proposals that will fit with the Valentine’s Day theme.
1) Propose At A Restaurant
Proposing at a restaurant is a popular choice. Everyone enjoys a good meal, and a glass of wine will help steady your nerves beforehand. If you decide to make a restaurant the setting for your Valentine’s Day proposal, it’s important to choose the perfect restaurant beforehand. You might decide to go for a more expensive or sophisticated eatery than those you normally choose, or one that has plenty of private booths and subdued lighting. Alternatively, you might prefer a restaurant that has personal meaning for you and your partner – perhaps where you went for your first date.
Remember that most restaurants will be busier than usual at this time of the year, so make sure you get reservations in plenty of time. Letting the restaurant staff in on your proposal plans can help too – they have probably seen others do the same thing, and might have some ideas. Hiding the ring in the pudding is one way to surprise your loved one – just make sure she (or he) doesn’t swallow it. And of course you can make a traditional proposal too, within the restaurant setting.
2) Visit Her Favourite Place
Not everyone likes the idea of a public marriage proposal – if you’d prefer some more privacy, another idea is to take a trip to her favourite spot. This works well the area is somewhere picturesque such as in the countryside or by the sea. It’ll probably be chilly in February in many places, so remember to dress warmly, and perhaps take some blankets and hot drinks – you don’t want the weather putting a dampener on your plans. Then as you’re both there enjoying the surroundings, surprise her by getting down on one knee and making your proposal!
3) Stay Close To Home
The most popular location for marriage proposals is in the home, and a great marriage proposal idea for Valentine’s Day is to put a bit of effort into creating a romantic ambiance in your home while she’s not around. Try cooking a special meal as a surprise, or create a candle trail to the bedroom, where you are, ready to propose. Scattered rose petals also create a romantic setting, and of course don’t forget the music. The key is to create something a bit different that will take her by surprise when she gets home.
4) Use A Chocolate Box
If she has a sweet tooth, get her a heart-shaped box of quality candy for a Valentine’s Gift. But replace one of the chocolates with the ring or a note. When she finds this, you make your proposal. Another similar idea is to get some Valentine’s conversation hearts and find one that says “marry me”. As she reads through the hearts, stop her when she gets to this one, and make your proposal then.
5) Say It With Flowers
Red roses are an inescapable part of Valentine’s Day, so why not make use of this traditional symbol of love to help you propose. If you already have a ring, you could hide it within the petals of one of the roses, or attach it to the stem.
However you choose to make your Valentine’s marriage proposal, leave plenty of time to plan it out, and be sure to think about the kind of thing she’d like. There’s no point buying a ring in advance, for example, if she’d rather choose her own. And think carefully about making a public proposal if you’re not certain she’ll say yes (or if she’s easily embarrassed!). With a bit of thought and planning though, you’re sure to have a Valentine’s Day to remember.
