These chili tofu burgers are a great choice for anyone who likes spicy foods.
Ingredients
- 2 T water
- 1 lb firm tofu
- 1/2 C green pepper, minced
- 1/2 C onion, minced
- 6 T chili sauce
- 1/8 t pepper
- 6 T ketchup
- 1/2 t salt
- 4 burger buns
Directions
1. Add the water to a large skillet, and place over medium heat.
2. Add the green pepper and onion, and cook for 5 minutes.
3. Drain the tofu, pat dry and mash it up.
4. Place the mashed tofu in the skillet, and cook for 15 minutes.
5. Add the chili sauce and ketchup, and stir thoroughly.
6. Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the mixture.
7. Reduce the heat to a low setting.
8. Continue to cook for 15 minutes, ensuring it is heated thoroughly. If the mixture dries out too much, add additional water 1 T at a time.
9. Serve the tofu mixture on the buns.
You could try adding in a little coconut oil to the sauce mixture, for its extra health benefits.
